J and M Trains Have No Manhattan Service on Fall Weekends While the MTA Replaces the Marcy Avenue Switches
Weekend riders between Brooklyn and Manhattan are on shuttle buses instead of the J and M: the MTA is replacing switches at Marcy Avenue that have reached the end of their useful life, and the pattern runs on weekends through November 23.

The J and M trains are not crossing between Brooklyn and Manhattan this weekend, and they will not on the remaining fall weekends either. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says there is no J and M service between Brooklyn and Manhattan on weekends from October 17 to November 23, while crews replace tracks and switches in the Marcy Avenue area — equipment the authority says has reached the end of its useful life.
The pattern is the same each weekend. From 3:45 a.m. on Saturday to 10 p.m. on Sunday, J trains run only between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Myrtle Avenue. M trains run in two sections, every 20 minutes: between Middle Village-Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues, and between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Myrtle Avenue. At Myrtle Avenue, all J and M trains board at the Manhattan-bound platform during the work.
Free T432 shuttle buses cover the skipped stations — Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street, Hewes Street, Marcy Avenue and Delancey Street-Essex Street — making all stops. For a direct ride between Brooklyn and Manhattan, the authority points riders to its other lines and to the MTA app or mta.info for the current weekend's exact arrangements, since the shuttle and transfer pattern applies only on the affected weekends.
The work is concentrated at weekends so the weekday Manhattan connection keeps running. Riders heading across the East River on a Saturday or Sunday through November 23 should budget the shuttle-bus leg into the trip — and check before leaving, because marathon Sunday adds its own citywide diversions on top of this planned work.
