Stocks: Futures Rise in New York on Monday as Wall Street Opens Midterm Week
Futures pointed higher before Monday's open after a tech-led sell-off ended October. Ahead this week: Apple and a long earnings list, Tuesday's midterms, and Friday's October jobs report.

U.S. stock futures rose ahead of Monday's market open in New York as investors prepared for a busy week of corporate earnings and the November 3 midterm elections, TipRanks reported early Monday. As of 1:38 a.m. Eastern on November 2, futures on the Nasdaq 100 were up 0.84 percent, S&P 500 futures were up 0.43 percent and Dow futures were up 0.29 percent in that report; a TradingView news summary read by this desk put the Dow up 0.3 percent and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 each up approximately 0.4 percent. The readings were taken at different times in the overnight session, and both are reported here as their sources stated them.
The higher open would follow a down week. The market ended last week lower, mainly on selling pressure in technology and AI-related stocks, and for October the Nasdaq recorded its biggest monthly decline since March 2025, TipRanks reported. Oil moved the other way on Monday in the same report: Brent crude futures fell 3.05 percent to $109.97 a barrel and WTI crude fell 3.37 percent to $100.63.
The week's calendar is the story. On the earnings front, Apple, Palantir Technologies, AMD, Pfizer, Super Micro Computer, Block, ARM Holdings, Qualcomm, McDonald's, Uber and IonQ are scheduled to report results this week, TipRanks reported. TradingView's summary adds the October jobs report, ISM manufacturing and services data, and scheduled remarks from several Federal Reserve officials to the week's watch list.
Between the earnings and the data sits Tuesday. The midterm elections on November 3 will decide control of Congress, and the October nonfarm payroll report follows on Friday, November 6, according to TipRanks. For New York, it is a home week twice over: the trading happens here, and the city's own polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
