NYC Mail Ballot Deadline: Last Day to Request One in Person Is Monday, November 2
Early voting ends today, but one door is still open on Monday: November 2 is the last day to apply in person for a mail ballot at your borough Board of Elections office — and every return deadline runs to 9 p.m. on Election Day.

There is exactly one voting deadline left before Election Day, and it falls on the quiet Monday in between. The Board of Elections lists Monday, November 2 as the last day to apply in person at your county Board of Elections office for an early mail or absentee ballot for the November 3 general election. The online and mail request window closed on October 24; the in-person counter is the last route to a ballot by mail.
Getting the ballot is only half the errand — returning it has its own clock, and all of it ends Tuesday night. A completed ballot can go in the mail with a postmark no later than November 3. It can be dropped off at the county Board of Elections office by 9 p.m. on November 3, at an early voting poll site in the county through today, November 1, or at an Election Day poll site on November 3, again by 9 p.m. Ballot envelopes provided by the Board include postage.
One rule catches voters out every cycle: a New York voter who has been issued an early mail or absentee ballot can no longer cast a ballot on a voting machine in that election. A voter in that position who goes to a poll site votes by affidavit ballot instead. The clean paths are the ones above — mail it back in time, or hand it in at a poll site or the Board's office.
Everything else on the calendar is Tuesday. Polls open at 6 a.m. on November 3 and close at 9 p.m., and any voter in line by 9 p.m. stays in line and votes. Early voting sites are open today, Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at each voter's assigned site — after that, the next in-person vote in this election is Election Day itself.
