NYPD Seeks Witnesses After Runner Katie Suarez Was Stabbed on Brooklyn's Shore Parkway
Police released the 28-year-old runner's name and photo and asked anyone who saw her on the Belt Parkway bike path between Bay 8 and Bay 17 streets on Friday night to come forward. She remains in critical condition, and no attacker has been identified.

The Police Department is asking the public for help in the stabbing of a 28-year-old runner on Brooklyn's Shore Parkway Greenway, releasing the victim's name and photograph as the search for her attacker enters its third day with no arrest announced.
Katie Suarez was running on the paved waterfront trail on Friday, October 30, at approximately 8 p.m. when she sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck, according to an NYPD media release. Emergency medical technicians transported her to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical condition. 'As of right now, her condition is very critical,' Detective Joseph Kenny told reporters at the scene, and police said Sunday night that she remained seriously injured. Police sources told ABC7 she had been training for Sunday's New York City Marathon, and that her father found her after she failed to arrive for a planned meet-up following her run.
Investigators are asking specifically for witnesses from a sixteen-minute window. Anyone who saw Suarez between 7:56 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on Friday 'in the vicinity of the eastbound bike path along the Belt Parkway, between Bay 8 Street and Bay 17 Street,' or who has any information about the assault, is asked to come forward, the department said. Dozens of officers were deployed to what police described as an expanded crime scene along the path over the weekend.
Police have not identified a suspect, released a description, or said whether the attack was random or targeted, and this story reports none. Tips go to the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or in Spanish at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
