The Attorney General's Election Hotline Is Staffed Monday — and From 6 A.M. on Election Day
New York's Election Protection Hotline, (866) 390-2992, takes voter problems from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 2, and from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day, Attorney General Letitia James's office announced.

If something goes wrong with your vote this week, the state has a number for it. Attorney General Letitia James announced that the Office of the Attorney General's Election Protection Hotline will be available through the November 3 general election, staffed to troubleshoot and resolve problems voters run into voting by mail or in person at a polling place.
The number is (866) 390-2992, and voters can also submit a complaint online. The hotline's hours bracket the vote itself: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the days before and after Election Day — Monday, November 2 and Wednesday, November 4 — and the full polling day on Tuesday, November 3, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. It was also staffed through the early voting period, which ran October 24 through November 1.
The hotline is the state's troubleshooting desk, distinct from the city Board of Elections' own voter line: it is the place to report a mail ballot that never arrived, a poll site that turned a registered voter away, or a problem inside the polling place on the day. Problems reported Monday — while there is still time to fix them before the polls open — are the ones the office can do the most with.
Election Day in New York City is Tuesday: polls open at 6 a.m., close at 9 p.m., and anyone in line at 9 p.m. can still vote.
