The Weekend Subway Reroutes End at 5 A.M. Monday: A Trains Come Back to Eighth Avenue

If the subway felt rearranged all weekend, it was — and the rearrangement has an end time. The MTA's planned changes that began Friday at 11:45 p.m. run until Monday, Nov. 2, at 5:00 a.m., when the A, C and E lines return to their normal routes for the first trains of the work week.

All weekend, Inwood-bound A trains ran via the F line between Jay Street-MetroTech and West 4th Street, bypassing High Street, Fulton Street, Chambers Street, Canal Street and Spring Street — five stations across Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan on the city's longest line, 32 miles end to end. Riders for Fulton Street were sent to the F or the World Trade Center E station; for Chambers, Canal and Spring, to the E or a downtown A at West 4th.

The C was rerouted in both directions on Saturday and Sunday between Jay Street-MetroTech and 59th Street-Columbus Circle — uptown via the F to Herald Square and the A to Columbus Circle — and downtown E trains ran local from 125th Street to Canal Street through the weekend.

Monday's 5 a.m. reset lands on a particular morning: no early voting, a mail-ballot deadline at the Board of Elections, and the last full campaign day before Tuesday's vote. The subway, at least, starts it the ordinary way.
